An Event With A Heart: The Cheyanne Symone Labor Day Sale

An Event With A Heart: The Cheyanne Symone Labor Day Sale

As Labor Day approaches, Brittany, the founder of Cheyanne Symone, reflects on a journey she started six years ago. Her vision was simple yet powerful: "Incredible Women Wearing Beautiful Jewelry." What began as a dream rooted in her heritage as an Indigenous Haliwa-Saponi woman and environmental scientist has now blossomed into a successful business. Her company showcases the beauty of Native beaded earrings, uplifts women, and supports important causes.

Brittany isn’t just focused on the discounts or the busy weekend ahead. Instead, she’s thinking about the bigger impact this sale can have. To her, it’s more than just offering 20% off or double rewards—it’s a chance for customers to contribute to something bigger. It’s about honoring her ancestors, supporting indigenous artisans, and bringing attention to the causes that matter most to Cheyanne Symone.

As you explore the collection this Labor Day Sale, remember that every purchase you make tells a story. Each piece of jewelry carries a legacy and helps build a brighter future for everyone.

A Legacy Of Strength

At Cheyanne Symone, every piece of jewelry has a story to tell—stories filled with meaning, heritage, and heart. One of the most touching inspirations behind our MMIR Freshwater Pearl Stud Earrings is the legacy of Faith Hedgepeth

Faith was a young Haliwa-Saponi woman with a bright future ahead, whose life was tragically cut short. Though she’s no longer with us, her memory continues to inspire and drive the movement to bring attention to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR). These earrings were created in her honor, representing the strength and resilience of Indigenous women and shining a light on an issue that affects so many.

"In 2012 my dear friend, neighbor and tribal relative Faith Hedgepeth was brutally murdered in her off campus apartment while studying at the UNC Chapel Hill. Cops made an arrest a few years ago, however still her case is still open. This shocked our community and it shocked me in a way I never imagined.  I am sharing this story with you because too many of our indigenous women and girls are missing and murdered. Their cases are unsolved.

50% of profits from the sale of these earrings will go towards the Faith's Smile Scholarship. A scholarship established by Faith's family that awards High School Seniors with college scholarships."

Jewelry That Tells A Story

When you hold a pair of Cheyanne Symone earrings, you’re holding something truly special. Each earring begins with a careful selection of freshwater pearls, chosen for their beauty and quality. From there, our skilled Indigenous artisans hand-bead every piece, weaving intricate patterns that carry the essence of their culture and traditions. These aren’t just earrings—they’re meaningful symbols of identity, empowerment, and connection to something bigger.

Some of our best sellers, like the Adeline, Head lady, and Two-Spirit earrings, have their own unique stories. The Adeline Earrings tell the true story of a family’s struggle with miscarriage and infant loss. Our Head Lady Earrings celebrate Deb Haaland as the first ever Native American person appointed to be the Secretary of Interior (the same department that manages tribal relations). Our Two-Spirit Pride Earrings were designed in collaboration with one of our Beader Becca Lynn to increase inclusivity for LGBTQ+ and Two Spirit Indigenous Peoples through traditional art and jewelry.

When you choose to wear Cheyanne Symone, you’re not just accessorizing. You’re embracing a piece of history, supporting important causes, and celebrating the beauty and power of Indigenous artistry. Each pair of earrings carries a story, and by wearing them, you become part of that story, helping to keep these legacies alive.

The Artisans Behind the Beauty

At Cheyanne Symone, the heart and soul of our jewelry lie in the hands of talented Indigenous artisans like Carolyn L. Anderson. Carolyn, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and a resident of Minneapolis, Minnesota, brings a rich background in Indigenous art to her work. With 16 years of experience as a buyer for Birchbark Books and Native Arts, she understands the cultural significance and artistry that go into every piece of jewelry.

Carolyn began her beadworking journey in 2020, and her passion quickly evolved into a thriving craft. Recently, she launched her online shop, Old Cedar Native Arts, where she showcases her unique creations. Her work with Cheyanne Symone allows her to share her love for Indigenous art and contribute to a brand that values and respects the Native American culture.

In 2023, we expanded our team by hiring Sarah Moncada as Director of Operations, a move that has strengthened our ability to support artisans like Carolyn. Cheyanne Symone collaborates with a dedicated group of eight North American Indigenous Beader contractors from tribes across the continent.

These tribes include the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, Turtle Mountain Chippewa, Puyallup, Comanche, and Manitoba Métis. Together, they bring our signature designs to life, ensuring that every piece is beautifully crafted and carries the weight of cultural heritage.

Our commitment to our artisans goes beyond providing work; we strive to create a nurturing, safe, and fun environment where everyone can thrive. We believe in fair compensation, professional development, and building a supportive community. This is why we use fellowship funds to increase beadwork hours and offer opportunities for growth and connection within our team.
